Jointing Procedure -
- Read and understand the full instructions supplied with the kit.
- Trim motor & power cables to remove any damaged ends and cut the outer sheath back to expose individual cores.
- Using the emery cloth and electro-wipes scour / clean all cable surfaces to ensure correct adhesion of the mastic and sleeve.
- Cut individual cores to lengths indicated on the dimensioned sketch provided - the ruler can be used to check dimensions.
- Place the outer heat-shrink sleeve over the power cable and slide clear of the working area.
- Strip back the inner sheath from each core and join them using the cable crimps – ensuring that cable colours match correctly.
- Work the mastic between/round the cores and fully into the joint to exclude any air pockets before rolling it to a neat ‘sausage’.
- Starting on the outer sheath of the motor tail, wrap the PVC tape around the joint until it is fully enclosed.
- Centralise the heat-shrink sleeve over the joint and heat until the whole sleeve has shrunk to the a tight fit on the cable & joint.
Note : Modified procedures for motors with individual tails are fully detailed in the kit instructions.
